Carolyn Hughes - Director
Carolyn is an applied behavioural scientist with over 25 years’ experience helping organisations—particularly in the charity, public, and mission-driven sectors—create fair, inclusive, and effective people practices. A founder of People & Purpose, she blends behavioural science, business psychology, and deep sector insight to help organisations attract, assess, and develop talent with clarity and confidence.
Her career began in social anthropology and careers guidance, grounding her in real human stories and the complexities of work. She went on to specialise in recruitment, assessment, and organisational development, completing advanced qualifications in behavioural science and business psychology. She is a member of the British Psychological Society, the Association of Business Psychologists, and GAABS.
Known for turning complex evidence into practical tools, Carolyn partners with organisations to refine hiring, strengthen culture, and design people systems that are values-led and human-centred. Her work consistently helps clients uncover overlooked talent, reduce bias, and create workplaces where people can genuinely thrive.
